Answer

The ventricles are the lower chambers of the human heart. There are two ventricles:

a. Right ventricle

b. Left ventricle

Each ventricle has an important role in pumping blood out of the heart.

Functions of the Ventricles:

a. Right Ventricle

1. It receives deoxygenated blood (blood without oxygen) from the right auricle.

2. It then pumps this blood to the lungs through a special blood vessel called the pulmonary artery.

3. In the lungs, the blood receives oxygen and gets rid of carbon dioxide.

b. Left Ventricle

1. It receives oxygenated blood (blood with oxygen) from the left auricle.

2. It then pumps this blood to all parts of the body through the aorta, which is the largest artery in the body.

3. This helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to every part of the body.
