Answer

The Life Cycle of a Butterfly has four main stages and is an example of complete metamorphosis:

1. Egg – The life cycle begins when a female butterfly lays eggs on the leaves of plants. These eggs are very tiny and are often laid on plants that the caterpillar will later eat.

2. Larva (Caterpillar) – The egg hatches into a larva, also called a caterpillar. The caterpillar’s main job is to eat and grow. It feeds on leaves and sheds its skin (molts) several times as it becomes bigger.

3. Pupa (Chrysalis) – After growing enough, the caterpillar forms a chrysalis, also known as a pupa. Inside the chrysalis, the caterpillar goes through a big change called metamorphosis, where it transforms into an adult butterfly.

4. Adult Butterfly – Finally, a beautiful butterfly comes out of the chrysalis. The adult butterfly can now fly, find a mate, and lay eggs, starting the life cycle all over again.
