Explain what the mass number represents
Powered by Froala Editor
The mass number is the total number of particles in the nucleus of an atom.
It gives the approximate mass of the atom (since electrons are very light and contribute almost nothing to the mass).
Mass number is always a whole number and is usually written next to the chemical symbol of the element, e.g., Chlorine-35 or 35 Cl.
